Course Overview

The First Aid course teaches recognition of a wide range of First Aid situations, providing treatment for injuries and illnesses, the use of First Aid equipment, and effective communication and incident management. 

Within the course you will learn the DRSABCD action plan, what to do in an asthma emergency, how to use a defibrillator, how to identify and treat bites and stings, and how to recognise the signs and symptoms of a stroke. 

This one-day classroom First Aid course is delivered onsite at the Master Builders Education Centre in Norwest and Regional Offices. The First Aid course deals with the provision of essential First Aid in recognising and responding to an emergency in the workplace. 

This course will satisfy the OHS & WHS Acts to become the 'nominated workplace First Aider'.

This course provides an outcome in First Aid. 

Participants who successfully complete this course will be issued a Statement of Attainment for the nationally recognised units of competency:

  • HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support
  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

The Code of Practice recommends that refresher training in CPR should be carried out annually (12 months) and First Aid qualifications should be renewed every three (3) years. 

PRE-COURSE PREPARATION

Prior to attending the First Aid course, participants must complete an online pre-course learning module. The module consists of true/false and multiple-choice questions. This must be completed no later than three (3) days before your classroom course.

Frequently Asked Questions

There are no educational entry requirements for this course, however participants must:

• Be at least 15 years of age
• Be proficient in spoken and written English, as assessments must be undertaken in English
• Bring original identification on the morning of the course
• Basic computer skills

This course requires you to be able to perform uninterrupted CPR on a manikin placed on the floor, therefore being physically able to be on the floor is required.

This is a one full-day course running from 8:30am to 4:30pm. Exact time will be confirmed via email. Students are required to arrive at least 15 minutes before class commences. 

Courses are run at Master Builders Education Centre in Norwest or one of our regional Centres.

These units are issued by Master Builders Association of NSW and the training is delivered by a third-party provider, ReVIVA, RTO 90176 under a partnership arrangement. 

Participants are not required to bring any materials to class.

A pen and notepad for participants is recommended. Master Builders will provide all course materials, resources, and access to PPE (if required) on the training day.

  • Current Drivers Licence (Photo ID with address)
  • Green Medicare Card or Passport
  • Provide your Unique Student Identifier (USI)
